One day, the God Thòrr decided to go and see the Giant Ymir so as to be taken on the ocean to hunt the dreadful Midgard's snake.
By way of bait, Ymir allowed him to remove the head from the celestial cow Orion and then, they sailed away.
As they reached the end of the ocean, Thorr cast his fishing line and waited till the snake swallowed the bait. He did not have to wait long for the terrible reptile emerged from the depth of the sea to swallow the bait. Thorr armed himself with his strength of Ase to pull out of the ocean the damned beast and to strike it with his hammer. In the effort, the bottom of the ship gave way and the feet of the divine Ase touched the bottom of the sea as Ymir fell overboard headfirst. Not knowing how to swim and before the tumult of the fight, he had a frightful feeling that the whole Universe should sink into chaos.
Then, he cut the line to set the reptile free but it made the divine Thorr very angry for he did not manage to kill the terrible snake which went back to the bottom of the sea, waiting now for the Gods' Twilight to come back and kill them.
